Poems of Xanthi Hondrou-Hill

WITH Α BLUE RIBBON
Xanthi Hondrou-Hill, Greece
The way the sky joins the sea,
with Mörike’s blue ribbon,
with the light of Odysseus Elytis,
with the peace of Neruda…
Among blossoming peach trees
on the mountain tops with a wild herb in hand
and the pebble beaches
with the doors open between countries and continents
with open hands
with a poem on the lips,
spring is preserved in the hearts.

TO THE CAPITALS OF LOCKDOWN
Our days didn‘t brighten up.
Even if the roads are all open
there is nowhere to go.
Here in this lane
we will survive the winter
until our values will shine
like functions
with mathematical precession.

PATHWAY THROUGH THE PAST
Points of reference in life
Tunnels,
Castles,
Walls,
even borders…
Metallic creatures as guards
Broken days
Memories aren‘t gifted
Re-connections denied…
Streets are blocking all happiness.

DIVERSE TEACHINGS
What did I learn
from the big historians?
Wars and crimes
Ashes and broken hearts
rights or wrongs…
mostly wrongs.
What do you remember
from the poets in your life?
Friendship and brotherhood
Love and light, moon and sun…
Come brothers and sisters
speak in your own language,
with the music of the birds
the streams of your wisdom
the abundance of diversity
let’s send our poems around the world
to bring freedom
to mankind.
