poems by Maja Milojković
Your Name calls me
to step forward and come before You,
and I want eyes that see your greatness
and your outworldly form
You promised in the scriptures,
that you are always there when someone knocks
on your door of eternity with his heart.
Eager for consolation,
I realize that I am only an insignificant particle of the universal creation,
the soul is inclined towards You, but the body is prone to sin,
I am ashamed,
it takes time to realize the essence of existence.
I humbly ask You to come into my life
and be with me wherever I am, step forward
so that I know where I am going walking the pathways of light.
YOU are the truth, the life and the way
Please, come into my heart
I offer you this eternally
where you reside is the spiritual world
and know that I want your presence more than going to heaven
and that is not the end, STAY!
White snowflake from the sky
is sent straight to the palm of my hand,
happy for that gift
I’m squeezing it tightly,
and I don’t realize it’s a dream.
It gently caresses my palm
and I am fascinated by its beauty;
But until I realize this is just a moment
oblivion hides behind joy.
And that’s how it happens
while I open my palm,
I can’t believe that the dream has already gone
… Am I
Not the bodily human and low love but those wonderful and beautiful threads of love
which float in the air like ships entering a peaceful harbor.
I beg love from everyone
and I give a smile in return
there are few who understand that this request is two-way
and it is not material,
it is the exchange of soul to soul.
Many fell for and think that I want them personally;
How poor are one’s thoughts!
I am not looking for money or pleasures
but with my request I collect love to give to others twice as much
and it is a circle of exchange.
You collect to share something more and something more beautiful,
but who does not understand let him try to understand and put in my beggar’s hat a piece of his heart.
Maja Milojković was born in 1975 in Zaječar, Serbia and lives and works in Denmark. She is a person to whom, as a laboratory assistant from an early age, Leonardo da Vinci's statement "Painting is poetry that can be seen, and poetry is painting that can be heard" is circulating through the blood. That's why she started to use feathers and a brush and began to reveal the world and herself to them. As a poet, she is represented in numerous domestic and foreign literary newspapers, anthologies and electronic media, and some of her songs can be found on YouTube. Many of her poems have been translated into English, Hungarian and Bulgarian due to the need of foreign readers. "Trees of Desire" is her second collection of poems in preparation, which is preceded by the book of poems "Moon Circle". She is a member of the International Society of Writers and Artists "Mountain Views" in Montenegro.
